OOTD: French Girl In New York

April 18, 2017

There are lots of crazy things about New York, but I never expected one of the craziest to be the weather. Seasons are meaningless. There have been days in January when all I needed was a light jacket—then the very next day there’d be a snowstorm. There are snow days in March and consecutive days of non-stop rain. Sorry—is talking about the weather mundane? If you’re into fashion or live in a city where walking is the norm, it’s imperative to know the forecast.

Well, on a remarkably cold day in March I envisioned the perfect cold-weather (but not too cold) outfit.

The formula: 1 bodysuit + 1 cute skirt + 1 statement jacket = outfit perfection.

While I opted for a fancy look, this formula can be used to create casual looks as well. For example: a denim or suede skirt, a neutral bodysuit plus statement jacket.

This OOTD is heavily influenced by stereotypical Parisienne style—complete with my urban outfitter’s beret and Kate Spade Eiffel Tower bag (which I styled the rest of this outfit around)—yes the bag was the starting point for this look.

I also wanted to play around with socks and heels as a way to keep comfortable and warm.

Et Voila.
